PINKO marketing belongs to the people... The password to this wiki is clu3.
This is the new age of marketing post-Cluetrain:
PINKO MARKETING
When I say 'post-Cluetrain', I am merely paying respect to Doc, Chris, David and Rick for authoring the Cluetrain Manifesto. Not that we've moved beyond anything...hell, much of the world hasn't even caught up! What I'm talking about is taking the principles of the cluetrain and:
- Giving solid examples of how it has been sucessfully implemented
- Acknowledge that 7 years later, The Cluetrain can be built upon with the new tools that are being built and distributed in the commons. Cluetrain itself was a reflection of all that had come before it, including User Groups and buying clubs, collectives, co-ops, and other institutions.
- Bring it to a new level of the conversation...one which acknowledges that it doesn't matter whether you (as the marketing director) are part of it or not...and that this may be the most powerful level of all
...because there is no "consumer" anymore. We are in the age of peer to peer power over all other forms of messaging. Producer to producer. There are no passive parties in this new world. No longer is word of mouth merely a powerful tool, it is quickly becoming the only trusted source of information. The internet, mobile and other advanced forms of communication are allowing communities to form and gain power more quickly than ever.
It is time that we not only listen to the community voice, but we pave the way and reward those voices for existing.
There are a couple ways to contribute to this project

If you look around, this philosophy is embedded in other places and other cultures. For me, this is why the message is particularly aimed at western culture, especially US culture.
If you change some of the tone and rhetoric (not criticizing, but there is a style of language, no?), you will find values that are shared amongst many traditions and peoples. I find that interesting. Are we about to rediscover something fundamental about ourselves by rejecting the dominant corporate mindset?

This is awesome, Anonymous. I am currently adjusting...and always open for discussion.
Being a wiki...I hope you can help me 'wordsmith' some of it (or at least put suggestions for particular passages you think require adjustments).

I think "Pinko Marketing" is catchy. Half the battle is getting people's attention.
